1st week as a “Lollipop” ~ aka “Downstairs”, stage 1…

I colored, heard Bible stories, danced, “sang”, played on the playground, did “puzzles” and apparently was “chatty” at times…

I don’t know what made Mama tear up more, seeing that I heard the Bible story about God’s rainbow for Noah or seeing my 1st coloring - her eyes were pretty moist with both.

Her & Deddy are kinda tickled that I’m “downstairs”  :)

Downstairs…

has never been a bigger word with a bigger meaning than it is this morning.  Today marks my first official day “downstairs” at daycare.  What does this mean???  Well, I don’t sleep in a crib anymore for my naps (they don’t even have cribs down there!).  I have a cubby outside my room & it sits in a big ol’ gym where I see infinite space to run & run & run.  It means I sit at a table to eat (mama didn’t see not one high chair).  It means coloring & projects - yup, mama saw some crayon masterpieces hanging on the wall.  It means learning about Jesus - Ms. Karen told mama & deddy that they were “just finishing up Noah” right now.  It means playing games.  It means getting dropped off on the PLAYGROUND on nice mornings.  It means learning about “time out” - yup, mama saw it on the class “map”.  It means baby days are falling fast behind & toddler is right there on my horizon…

What does it mean for mama & deddy…

It means never taking me back to the wee ones, angels or cherubs room upstairs.  Never having to fix & label bottles.  It means their little boy is becoming just that - they see less & less baby.  It means letting go of my hand b/c I have exploring to do - it’s a great big world & there’s so much to see & do.

Mama doesn’t like change & I think she was fighting back tears as she drove away this morning, past the playground - I was just pushing a car around (busy) while some of the bigger kids were chasing bubbles.  She doesn’t like change & she’s fastly realizing that is one solid fact she can count on - I’m changing.  Every day, every week - seemingly with the blink of an eye - I’m changing.  While it fills her with pride to see me thriving & growing, she can’t help but be mystified & often misty-eyed b/c it happens so quickly.

Deddy & mama tell me all the time how proud I make them - I also make them laugh a lot too.  I’m gonna keep on growing & learning - I bet I will continue to make them so proud.  It’s a big world out there & I can’t wait to discover it…downstairs is gonna be awesome!

Mimi’s here…

Mama can about sense that some spoiling is occurring right this very minute - call it a mama’s intuition…

Me, I’m loving it though - spoil on, I say :)

nIGHT, nIGHT  ~ pOP pOP

Me & Deddy are off to dreamland early tonight.  Me b/c I’m a baby, Deddy b/c he’s still not feeling well…

Thanks so much for coming to see us today (although Mama always has to worry about what to cook for you!).  We really enjoyed seeing you & I had fun playing w.you!  Hope I didn’t wear you out too bad.  If not, I’m sure mowing in this heat did!

Thanks for helping with all you did - Deddy really appreciates it!  Hope you’ll come back to my house & see me soon…hugs & kisses, John Tyson

I’m…

walkin’ (faster than I should),

I’m discoverin’ (ALMOST eaten a beetle, a spider [that was still alive] & a bumble bee - all in 1 afternoon),

I’m laughin’ (cackling even when there’s nothing funny),

I’m talkin’ (i got bye-bye down pat, even when no one’s leaving),

I’m clappin’ (this is my “go-to”, makes others feel special),

I’m singin’ (oh yeah, my itsy bitsy spider is amazing),

I’m stealin’ hearts (especially mama & deddy’s),

I’m radiatin’ joy (I dare you not to smile at me)…  : )

Dear Nana & Pappaw,

Thanks so much for coming to be my babysitters - I had such a BIG time with you both.  Pappaw, we’re definitely good buddies, but Nana’s pretty great too.  She’s there to cuddle w.me & rock me, but most importantly, she changes diapers - don’t worry, I’m not holding that against you :)

Make sure you come back when you can stay longer - I’ll enjoy pressing my face up against that new screen while you’re gone.  I probably won’t be trying to catch anymore junebugs - I’m w.mama, I’ll be glad when they have to go away!

Have a great week ~ love you both…John
